Filter funnels are ideal for microbiological filtration activities in various sectors:

Components of the filtration system

The filtration process takes place by passing a fluid through a filtering device in order to separate, on one side, the particles to be filtered and, on the other, the filtered fluid.

Filtration occurs by applying a pressure difference that accelerates the passage of the fluid through the filter.

In the case of membranes and filter funnels, vacuum pumps are used to generate suction, drawing the fluid through the filter.

Composition of the filtration system

The filtration system therefore consists of:

• Funnel with filter membrane
• Filtrate collection system, which can be:
  • Filtration manifold (3, 6 or 12 positions)
  • Receiving bottle (1 position)
• Vacuum pump

Filtration manifolds allow you to work simultaneously on multiple samples.

Bottles, on the other hand, are dedicated to a single position.

Compact systems are also available, such as the 1- or 2-place WaterVac, which functions as a vacuum pump and drains the liquid directly into the sink, significantly reducing the required space.
