Lumitester Smart Bioluminometer

The effectiveness of cleaning and sanitation processes in all fields can be easily monitored with the use of a bioluminometer, which allows for the instant verification of hygiene levels. This is a portable, easy-to-use device.

The immediacy of the results, combined with its simplicity and cost-effectiveness, provides a significant advantage over traditional control methods.

The test is carried out using two components:

Lumitester Smart Bioluminometer
LuciPac A3 Surface or LuciPac A3 Water Sampling Swabs

LuciPac A3 Surface Swab

The swab is rubbed over the surface to be examined, then inserted into the bioluminometer for result reading. The instrument detects the presence of organic material by measuring ATP + ADP + AMP, displaying a value in RLU (Relative Light Units).

Whether contamination originates from biofilm, bacteria, or bodily fluids, the ATP analysis is a universally recognized test for verifying cleaning protocols.

LuciPac A3 Water Swab

The Lumitester can also be used to detect hygiene levels in water and liquid samples, in conjunction with the LuciPac Water swab.

The swab is immersed in the liquid, then inserted into the bioluminometer for result reading. The instrument detects the presence of organic material by measuring ATP + ADP + AMP, displaying a value in RLU.

Note: The bioluminometer does not provide a direct measurement of bacterial or viral load on surfaces but instead detects the presence of organic material.

Operating Principle of the Lumitester and A3 Technology

The Lumitester Smart detects A3 molecules (ATP, ADP, and AMP) through a bioluminescence reaction. It reads the light signal emitted by the biochemical reaction between A3 and the luciferase reagent present on the sampling swab.

The amount of light emitted is directly proportional to the concentration of A3 in the sample. The instrument measures this light and converts it into a numerical value of RLU (Relative Light Units), which is then displayed on the screen and stored in the cloud.

The measured RLU value is compared with internal limits for the validation and acceptance of cleaning processes.

What Do the Acronyms ATP, ADP, and AMP (A3) Mean?

ATP (Adenosine Triphosphate) is the primary molecule involved in the metabolism of living organisms. ADP (Adenosine Diphosphate) and AMP (Adenosine Monophosphate) are generated from the degradation processes of ATP, such as thermal treatment and fermentation.

ATP + ADP + AMP are therefore indicators of hygiene levels, as they derive from the presence of organic material.

Using the Lumitester in Three Easy Steps

The instrument is easy to use, even by untrained personnel, requiring only basic training.

For surfaces, use the LuciPac A3 Surface swab (AOAC approved), carefully swabbing the sampling area. For water and liquid samples, use the LuciPac A3 Water swab, which should be immersed in the liquid.
Place the swab back into the test tube and press it all the way down to puncture the membrane that separates the reagent. Shake well.
Insert the test tube into the Lumitester, which will provide the measurement in 10 seconds. Results are displayed on the screen and stored in the cloud archive, accessible at any time.

The Lumitester provides a fast and general overview of hygiene conditions, making it an essential tool for environmental sanitation processes. It is ideal for all areas where cleaning plays a critical role and as an aid for agro-food and environmental analyses.
