What do the acronyms ATP, ADP and AMP mean?

ATP (adenosine triphosphate) is the main molecule involved in the metabolism of living organisms. ADP (adenosine diphosphate) and AMP (adenosine monophosphate) are generated by ATP degradation processes, such as heat treatment and fermentation.

ATP+ADP+AMP are therefore indicators of the hygiene level as they derive from the presence of organic material.

The technology that detects ATP+ADP+AMP can be shortened to A3.

The operating principle of the Lumitester and the A3 technology

The Lumitester Smart detects A3 molecules through a bioluminescence reaction, that is, it reads the light signal emitted by the biochemical reaction between A3 and the reagent (luciferase) present on the swab used for sampling. The amount of light emitted is directly proportional to the concentration of A3 present in the sample and is measured by the instrument, which converts it into a numerical value of RLU (Relative Light Unit), displayed on the display.

Use in three easy steps

The tool can be easily used even by unstructured personnel, with very basic training.

For surfaces, use the AOAC approved LuciPac A3 Surface swab, carefully swiping it over the sampling area.

For the analysis of water and liquid samples, the LuciPac A3 Water swab is used, which must be immersed in the liquid.

Subsequently, the swab must be placed back in the test tube and pressed all the way down in order to puncture the membrane that keeps the reagent separated. Shake well and insert the test tube into the Lumitester, from which the measurement is obtained in 10 seconds. The results are displayed on the display and stored in the cloud storage which can be accessed at any time.
