Antibiotic susceptibility test discs

6 mm diameter paper discs impregnated with a certain concentration of antibiotic, to be used for the susceptibility test, or antibiogram, according to the Kirby-Bauer method.

The disks are contained in plastic cartridges from which they can be extracted with sterile tweezers or released with a single or multiple dispenser (in the latter case check compatibility between cartridge and dispenser).

Antibiogram or sensitivity test

The purpose of the antibiogram is to determine bacterial sensitivity to antibiotics and antifungals.

It is a diffusion technique that involves the application of antibiotic-impregnated disks on a plate of culture medium on which the strain under examination has been grown, following the Kirby and Bauer technique.

Reading the Inhibition zones allows you to establish the sensitivity of the microorganism to the antibiotic (resistant, intermediate, sensitive).
