Kit for the preservation of microorganisms

Protect is a system that allows the cryo-preservation of bacteria, yeasts and fungi in a freezer at -20, -70, -80°C or in liquid nitrogen.

The creation of stock libraries is made easy and fast for all microorganisms, including the most demanding ones.

We provide microbiology laboratories with a database containing cross-referenced historical data on microbial strains, storage temperatures, and storage duration.

Composition

Protect consists of cryogenic vials containing:

colored porous ceramic beads, on whose surface microorganisms readily adhere
a nutrient solution with glycerol, which prevents cell damage caused by low temperatures

The vials have caps matching the color of the beads. The color is used to encode the vial contents within the strain collection.

Gamma irradiation sterilization ensures a Sterility Assurance Level (SAL) of 10⁻⁶.

Instructions for Use

Protect allows the preserved strain to remain unchanged at low temperatures, ensuring reproducible and consistent results. Microorganisms are initially introduced into the vial and mixed with a specially developed cryoprotective solution, which prevents damage caused by freezing. The cryoprotective solution is removed before the vial is transferred to low-temperature storage.

The color code that characterizes both the cap and the beads, together with the combination of customized cryopreservation accessories, simplifies procedures and provides a reliable method for the long-term preservation of a wide range of standard and fastidious microorganisms.

Protect Multi-Purpose can be used for the general preservation of all microorganisms, including the most fastidious ones.

PROTECT SELECT

Protect Select offers users a specialized range, developed to optimize recovery:

Anaerobes: for the recovery of anaerobic microorganisms
Dairy: for the recovery of microorganisms derived from dairy products
Fungi/Yeasts: for the recovery of fungi and yeasts
Meat Free: free of meat components and supplied with TSE-free safety and traceability documentation, which is crucial for pharmaceutical and biotechnological products
