The Histamine Check Swab is used to measure histamine in food samples using a colorimetric reaction. The test results can be verified by the color changes of the reagent. Comparing the color changes with the color scale will provide a rough understanding of the histamine content. The test is performed on food matrices.

Colorimetric Test for Histamine

The analytical method of this product uses enzymes that act specifically on histamine. In the presence of tetrazolium salt and electron acceptors, histamine dehydrogenase reacts with the tetrazolium salt to produce the formazan dye (purple).

The intensity of the purple color is proportional to the concentration of histamine, allowing an approximate estimation of histamine levels in the sample.
