Hydrosense Legionella uses lateral flow immunochromatographic test technology to detect the presence of antigens on the cell surface of Legionella bacteria. They use anti-legionella antibodies, marked by red nanoparticles, which bind to all bacteria present in the sample and make them visible in the form of a red line on the device. Results are obtained in 25-30 minutes.

Sensitivity

Water tests are highly sensitive and can detect Legionella pneumophila levels of 100 CFU/L (0.1 CFU/ml). They also provide action levels at 1,000 CFU/L (1 CFU/ml) and 10,000 CFU/L (10 CFU/ml).

The swab kit for biofilm sampling has a detection level of 200 CFU per swabbed area.
