ISO 7704:2023

EN ISO 7704:2023 specifies requirements for performance testing of membranes used to directly capture and enumerate microorganisms on solid media.

It applies to the analysis of various water samples, including:

Drinking water, bottled water, and other water samples with low expected numbers of microorganisms

Water with higher expected microorganism counts, such as surface water or process water

The tests indicated in the standard are designed to demonstrate the suitability of the entire system (membrane in combination with the culture medium) including the filtration step.
