The indicator consists of a strip of paper printed with reactive ink which changes color from light blue to dark brown/black giving an indication of exposure to the sterilization process. It must be placed inside the package to be sterilized.
Class 6 emulators check whether sterilization conditions have been met, reacting to all critical variables (time, temperature and humidity). They reach a final color that indicates exposure to sterilization conditions:
